Increases to the National Minimum Wage

It is important for Solihull businesses to be aware that effective 01st October 2009, for employees ages 22 and over, the applicable adult rate National Minimum Wage (NMW) has increased to £5.80/hour from £5.73/hour.

For the hourly development rate, it has also increased to £4.83/hour from £4.77/hour.

For 16 and 17 year olds, the National Minimum Wage rate has increased to £3.57/hour from £3.53/hour.

By law, HMRC are able to charge penalties to those employers that do not comply and are found to be in contravention of the NMW rules.
