Content Guidelines

Content Guidelines

  • Your community is going to rely on the information you add to Activ therefore it is important the content you add is appropriate. If everyone plays nice, by ensuring the reviews and content added are accurate and fair this will ensure we all have a great time… The easiest way to explain this is as follows…Don’t add anything that could cause offence around the Sunday dinner table…. To ensure a happy Activ environment we have put together the following guidelines for you to follow:

  • Keep everything family friendly:

Threats, bigotry, hatred, harassment, are only going to cause upset therefore let’s not add it on Activ.

As you can upload photos and videos to Activ, let keep them clean! Drug use, violence or sexual material is hardly family viewing so don’t add it.

Relevant to the audience:

  • What happens inside an organisation is confidential therefore be careful not to use Activ as a place for you to vent your anger because you’ve had a bad day. Reviews are aimed at potential users of the organisations therefore it is important the content is added with them in mind.

  • Make sure everything you add is relevant to our members, don’t start a hate campaign and avoid from adding something that is insulting.

Accuracy is key:

  • Information must be based on your experiences, therefore second hand info is a no no as all reviews need to be based on your own personal experiences. Elaborated stories might sound great when you’re telling your mates in the Pub, but Activ is not the place to over egg something! Keep it accurate.

Conflicts:

  • Unbiased and objective reviews are not possible if you own an organisation or have any involvement in one therefore don’t add reviews if its your organisation. Make sure everything is unbiased and objective.

Make sure your content is unique:

  • Everything you add has to be unique and entirely your own content… Don’t copy anyone else’s content from. This will stop you getting in any hot water with Intellectual Property issues.

Advertising:

  • If you want to advertise your organisation feel free to set up your own account on Activ. As you can do this you don’t need to start adding commercial email addresses and contact information in the body of reviews, it’s hardly great viewing and will only get our back up.

Use the forum to discuss things:

  • Don’t ask questions in your reviews or content. If you want a debate, use the forum, that’s what its there for.

Personal details:

  • You wouldn’t want to see your personal details viewable online for the world to see if you didn’t give permission so don’t do it to anyone else. Avoid using people’s full names, phone numbers, email addresses and anything else that is personal.

Easy on the eye:

  • Use plain text, like you would find in a newspaper. Don’t go over the top using CAPITALS and bold text, it doesn’t look great.

Your profile:

  • Express yourself, don’t be shy… just make sure what you add is all about you!

Posts on your blog:

  • Whether you’re an organisation or using your blog for personal reason you have the opportunity to post what you want. All we ask is you don’t slate anyone and if you’re a bit of an expert when it comes to getting content found in the search engines, don’t overdo the keywords, we will delete them if we see it.

Don’t repeat yourself:

  • Duplicate content appearing all over Activ is hardly going to create a great user experience. Say what you have to say on your blog, choose to add it to a couple of other sections to the site if you want, but don’t keep adding the same thing time and time again.

Messaging Activ members:

  • Don’t bug someone, if they’re not interested in you leave them alone. If you’re caught being a pest rest assured you will be dealt with firmly. Activ reserves the right to remove anything they want whenever they want. The content added to Activ is posted by individuals and are highly subjective opinions. These opinions are not the opinions of Activ and only that of the individual member responsible for posting them. Each person who joins Activ agrees to our Terms of Use policy.
